Custom Steel Die Cutting Plates

Disston provides customized die cutting plates used in die cutting presses in the cutting of box board, card board, tag board, plastic, rubber, felt, sythentic materials, laminated board, and paper in the manufacturing of boxes, holders and cards. Our plates include:

Press Plates

Press Plates are for laminating presses used to press and finish fiber (paper), thin plastic and thin rubber products for shipping. The laminating press adds a coating to the paper or press board for products such as foil on greeting cards and gift boxes. These are thick plates that range from 0.062 inch to 1.0 inch thickness.

Counter Plates

Counter plates or chase plates are used in the cutting and scoring of boxes. Counter plates are thin flat, round, and hardened plates. Counter plates are also used on die cutting machines that press out large industrial parts such as: refrigerator doors, dishwasher doors, and parts for automobiles.

BackUp Plates

Back up plates are soft ground polished plates used to hold the knives for cutting or scoring box board. These plates are also used on die cutting machines. These plates are precision tempered, ground and polished.

Custom Cylinder Jackets or Tympans

Used for regular or converted Miehle presses, which cut, crease or score paper or cardboard. Disston jackets are made of a special alloy steel. They are steel plates made and curved to exactly fit the cylinder. All our jackets are made to the same exacting standards as our flat plates.

  • Disston Precision builds in quality by using only the finest raw materials and expert workmanship. We use the finest super alloy steel which is made exclusively for Disston Precision. We heat treat our steel to precise hardness up to 52 HRc for optimum toughness, strength, and wear resistance. We grind and polish our press plates to produce the ultimate in parallelism, flatness, and thickness. All dimensions are made to your exact specifications.

All our die cutting plates are custom made of steel. They are commonly used for box making, carton making, card embellishing, and machinery.
